Participating States and Institutions
National Project Implementation Unit (NPIU) was established by Ministry of Human Resource Development,Government of India, in August 1990 for coordination, facilitation, monitoring and to provide guidance to the States/ Institutions in all aspects of the projects.
Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) was envisaged as a long-term programme of about 10-12 years duration to be implemented in 2-3 phases for transformation of the Technical Education System with the World Bank assistance.
The broad objectives of the Programme are to create an environment in which engineering institutions selected under the Programme can achieve their own targets for excellence and sustain the same with autonomy and accountability, support development.
The TEQIP Phase - II is aimed to upscale and support ongoing efforts of Government of India (GOI) in improving quality of technical education and enhance existing capabilities of the Institutions to become dynamic, demanddriven, quality conscious, efficient, forward looking and responsive.
